5/11/22 @ 9:00 a.m.- At the Monday, March 28, 2022 meeting, Ryan Tucker, Audit Partner with Purvis Gray, presented the annual audit for Fiscal Year 2020/2021 which ended on September 30, 2021. This outside firm spends about 4 weeks each year studying the Board's controls and processes to ensure that are appropriate and functioning properly.

Clerk of Courts, John Crawford, introduced Mr. Tucker to the Board and stated, "I want to express our thanks to your (Board of County Commissioners - Office of Management & Budget) staff. We have a tremendous working relationship. Government is a public trust and the only way we can verify that the trust is being filled is to have an external audit. I'm pleased to have Mr. Tucker come and present their findings. It's valuable to you and the citizens of Nassau County that we serve".

Mr. Tucker began by stating that the "results were very positive", adding that Nassau County has received an "Unmodified Opinion" which is the highest level of assurance that an audit firm can provide on a County's financial statements. Mr. Tucker went on to explain various areas of their focus including, but not limited to, review of the County's budget procedures, investment of public funds, internal controls, use of grant funds, and overall financial condition.
